October 15th: Saturday’s Football Accumulator – 6/1

With the Premier League once again taking center stage this weekend, we have another stacked schedule on our hands. So, for those of you looking to stick on a Saturday acca, we have found a handful of helpful tips that are worth keeping an eye out for.

Saturday October 15th
BST 12:30 Leicester vs Crystal Palace

Suffering a real second-half collapse on the south coast last weekend as they were eventually hit with a 2-1 loss against Bournemouth, Leicester find themselves in the midst of a real Premier League nightmare. Sat rock-bottom of the table and with there a huge amount of pressure on Brendan Rodgers shoulders, the Foxes are at the heart of a shock relegation scrap. Now losing seven of their last eight top-flight contests, the one-time Liverpool boss has also seen his side gain a reputation for their rather glaring issues at the back. On a run that is highlighted by an action-packed 5-2 drumming away at Brighton last month, Leicester have already shipped 24 Premier League strikes this season. Recording just a single clean sheet from any of their previous 12 top-flight showdowns, we could be in for another lively meeting on Saturday lunchtime. On the flip side, eventually picking up a welcomed 2-1 victory at home against Leeds last weekend, Crystal Palace should be smelling a real chance here. Drawing a line under their four-match winless run, Patrick Vieira s side are seeking some stability. Hoping to claim back-to-back domestic wins for the first time since opening May, Saturday s opponents do have a habit of producing enjoyable meetings. With each of their last four showdowns finishing with both teams finding the net, we re backing a similar outcome here.

Tip: Both teams to score @ 7/10

14:30 Werder Bremen vs Mainz

While Werder Bremen might have only made their Bundesliga return over the summer, the River Islanders have only continued to gain a string of plaudits. Marking their return from September s international break with a stunning display as they breezed their way to a 5-1 romp at home against Borussia Mönchengladbach, the mood in Ole Werner s camp should be at a red-hot high. Remarkably opening this weekend s fixtures sat a single point adrift of breaking into the Champions League spots, fans around the Weserstadion are dreaming of a real European charge this season. Likewise, last seen picking up an eye-catching 2-1 win away at Hoffenheim, Bremen have lost just one of their previous five Bundesliga matchups. Looking to lay down another marker on Saturday afternoon, Werner will be calling on attacking talisman Niclas Fullkrug to spearhead their charge here. Once again finding the net away at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena last time out, the 29-year-old has already notched eight Bundesliga strikes from his opening nine appearances. On the flip side, while Mainz might have clung to a 1-1 draw at home against RB Leipzig last weekend, Christian Heidel s side are in the midst of a four-match Bundesliga winless run. With that run underlined by a 4-1 drumming away at Hoffenheim last month, the Reds should be set for a tough test here.

Tip: Werder Bremen win @ 11/8

19:45 Watford vs Norwich

Watching their stellar unbeaten run come to an abrupt end at the hands of Preston last weekend, Norwich will be seeking an immediate response on Saturday night. Eventually getting hit with an action-packed 3-2 loss on home soil, Dean Smith s men will be desperate to prove that was just a minor blip. However, mustering just a single win from any of their previous four Championship contests, it should be noted that Norwich have picked up just a single clean sheet since back on September 3rd. Nevertheless, with last weekend s defeat at Carrow Road their only loss from any of their last eight matchups across all formats, Smith s men have largely impressed with their free-scoring displays in the final third. Bagging 20 second-tier strikes since opening the 2022/23 campaign, the Canaries will be hoping to cash in on a Watford side who are enduring a worrying rut over the past week. Despite opening Slaven Bilic s tenure with an impressive 4-0 romp away at Stoke earlier in the month, it appears that was just a minor boost for the Hornets. Now suffering back-to-back 3-1 and 2-1 losses against Blackpool and Swansea, neutrals will be hoping for another enjoyable affair here. It should be noted, with Saturday s hosts seeing six of their last eight outings finish with both teams finding the net, we re backing a similar outcome here.
